First Steamboat Springs snowfall to be followed by wet workweek

A cold, wet weekend brought Steamboat Springs nearly an inch of rainfall and its first measurable snowfall of the season on Sunday — 3/4 of an inch in town and 2 inches on the mountain, according to local meteorologist Mike Weissbluth’s twice-weekly report.

Locals can expect a brief warm-up for Indigenous Peoples’ Day, with temperatures rising toward 60 degrees before another round of precipitation returns, wrote Weissbluth, who predicted that rain showers could start as early as noon Monday and continue into Tuesday.

Skies should clear by Tuesday afternoon, Weissbluth wrote, with high temperatures in the mid-60s expected to last through Wednesday morning. Another cold front is expected to move in Wednesday night, however, bringing a drop in temperatures and a mix of valley rain and mountain snow that could last into Thursday.

Thursday temperatures are unlikely to reach above 50 degrees, added Weissbluth. Friday is likely to be cool and dry, but the weekend forecast remains uncertain.
