There will be live music from Patrick Ayers and Apple Pie Order, pop-up shops and giveaways as the Commons Food Hall and Bar hosts a party Aug. 30 to introduce the community to three new businesses.

“It is the Saturday of Labor Day weekend, and we’re doing stuff all day. We feel like we are stepping out of our infancy,” said Justin Keys, Commons Food Hall and Bar general manager. “We have three new restaurants, so we have a full house, and a bunch of cool offerings. I think we have found our stride over the last couple years, and we just kind of want to celebrate having all our businesses in there now open and thriving.”

On that holiday-weekend on Saturday, the Commons Food Hall and Bar will be open 11 a.m.-9 p.m. with Ayers playing music from 2-5 p.m., followed by local favorite Apple Pie Order from 6-9 p.m. There will also be giveaways from local companies including prizes from Grass Sticks and the grand prize, a stand-up paddleboard from Hala Gear.

“We are bringing in all the favorites to celebrate the people that we have a relationship with,” Keys said. “We wanted to do some giveaways, so we’ve also partnered with local businesses.”

Customers visiting the Commons Food Hall and Bar on Friday and Saturday will earn one entry into the giveaway for every $10 they spend with one of the Food Hall’s seven independent vendors, which are the Commons Bar, Clyde’s Pies, Poke the Bear, La Cocina, Sup Wich U, Pasta Bar and Mr. Burger.

Keys said customers don’t need to buy any extra ticket and will be rewarded for supporting local business based on their purchases. Keys said the drawings begin around 7 p.m.  Saturday night and will be spread out until the end of the party.

In addition to concerts and giveaways, the Commons Food Hall and Bar has also invited local artists and merchants to set pop-up locations inside the food hall on Saturday, and there will be prize drawings for merchandise from local vendors as well as gift cards from the restaurants that have found a home at the Commons Food Hall and bar.

Keys said the Commons is normally busy on Saturdays with the Main Street Farmers Market taking place just down the street, so it was important for him to plan the party as an all-day event.

“You don’t have to buy extra tickets, just come get lunch, celebrate our vendors or maybe grab a drink and get entered into the drawing on Saturday night,” Keys said. “We’re really thankful for the support of our community and our regulars, so we wanted to throw down one last party for downtown to welcome our new crew in (to the Commons Food Hall and Bar) and hopefully get people in to try some new food.”
