Colorado Trail Explorer app alerts users of wildfires, prescribed burns

As the dry summer continues, Colorado Parks and Wildlife is reminding outdoor recreators of its Colorado Trail Explorer (COTREX) mobile app, which offers active alerts of wildfires and prescribed burns across the state.

The free app provides information for 45,076 miles of Colorado trails with over 200 land managers contributing data.

Wildfire and prescribed burn alerts will automatically appear on the website and app with descriptions and boundaries of the fire.

COTREX is designed to help recreators make decisions on exploring the state during fire season. CPW recommends using the app and also contacting local authorities for the most up-to-date information on fires.
