As of mid-2025, Colorado’s 43 state parks have already welcomed around 8 million guests, with numbers expected to surge over the busy Fourth of July weekend, according to a joint statement released Wednesday by the Governor’s Office and Colorado Parks and Wildlife.

The state parks drew over 18 million visitors in 2024, generating $147 million in revenue.

“Wherever you go in Colorado, there’s a state park waiting to welcome you,” said CPW Director Jeff Davis. “Mountains or prairies, rivers or forests, out in the eastern plains or near the city — Colorado’s state parks are as diverse as the state itself, and they offer something for everyone.”

The Keep Colorado Wild Pass, a key initiative launched in 2021, has made park entry more affordable, reducing the annual pass cost from $80 to $29 for Coloradans.

In its first year, over 1.5 million passes were sold, raising nearly $40 million for park maintenance, search and rescue, and outdoor education. Parks and Wildlife aims to raise $36 million annually from pass sales, ensuring continued support for Colorado’s outdoor spaces and programs.

“Our parks and outdoor spaces play an important role in our state’s economy, and we look forward to continuing to expand access so even more people can enjoy our incredible outdoors,” said Gov. Jared Polis.
