Cold front to bring snowfall to Steamboat Springs
After a mild and sunny Sunday morning, clouds will build over Steamboat Springs this afternoon ahead of a storm expected to bring rain and snow overnight, according to local meteorologist Mike Weissbluth’s twice-weekly forecast.
High-elevation snow levels should lower to the valley floor by Monday morning, with 2-5 inches possible above 8,000 feet and up to an inch in town, Weissbluth wrote.
Highs will fall sharply from near 60 degrees Sunday to 40 degrees or below on Monday, wrote Weissbluth, who added that another 2-5 inches of snow may fall above 8,000 feet by the afternoon. Precipitation chances remain uncertain for Tuesday-Thursday.
According to Weissbluth, the colder air will linger through the week, helping boost local snowmaking efforts ahead of Steamboat Ski Resort’s Opening Day on Saturday, Nov. 22.
