Several roads will be closed next Friday to accommodate the annual Fourth of July Parade and Cowboys’ Roundup Days, including Lincoln Avenue.

From 6:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., Lincoln Avenue will be closed from 5th to 12th streets. Traffic will be diverted onto Yampa and Oak streets.

Parking will not be allowed on Lincoln Avenue and side streets, as well as on one side of Yampa and Oak streets, 24-48 hours in advance of the parade. Vehicles left in no-parking areas will be towed.

“No parking in these locations span midnight to 2 p.m. on July 4th. Vehicles left in no parking locations will be towed,” according to a city press release.

On the morning of July 4, westbound traffic will turn right on 5th Street, then left onto Oak Street before
continuing down to 12th Street. Street parking on Oak Street and Yampa Street will be restricted.

Turning left onto side streets from Oak within the parade detour zone will not be permitted.

Eastbound traffic will turn right at 12th Street, then left onto Yampa Street. Traffic will travel the seven blocks down Yampa Street to 5th Street before turning back onto Lincoln Avenue.

No parking is available on 12th Street or at the intersections of 12th and Yampa Street, and 5th and Yampa Street. The 5th Street Bridge will remain open to northbound traffic during the parade.

Vehicles accessing Howelsen Hill, the Ice Arena, or the Brooklyn neighborhood will be able to turn right from Yampa Street to reach the venues.

Westbound traffic on Lincoln Avenue will not be able to turn left on 5th Street to reach Howelsen Park. Motorists should consider using River Road for areas south of the river.

Residential side streets approaching Oak Street between 5th and 12th streets will not be permitted to turn left on Oak Street, but will need to follow the circular route.

Float staging will take place on the riverside of 10th and 11th streets, as well as in the public parking lot in the area.

Steamboat Springs Transit will take advantage of the emergency lanes during the parade closure on Yampa and Oak streets to keep buses rolling.

The city encourages people to walk, bike or take public transit to downtown. Additional Steamboat Springs Transit buses will be running on the day of the parade.

Public transit locations and times can be found at SteamboatSprings.net/Transit or by calling 970-879-3717.

If driving, parking will be available at the Howelsen Hill Ski Area, Howelsen Ice Complex, Rodeo Arena, Stockbridge Transit Center or the Steamboat Springs High School.
