The Bear River Skate Park will be closed for maintenance from Sept. 1-5, according to a statement released by the city of Steamboat Springs on Wednesday.

The skate park is expected to reopen on Saturday, Sept. 6.

Contractors with Team Pain Enterprises, a skate park design and construction company that has built several facilities in the state, will handle the repairs. The maintenance work includes replacing coping and tiles, sealing cracks, patching concrete, repainting steel and applying sealant to the entire park surface.

“Just as you would take care of your board, checking the axle, wheels and bearings, we’re taking care of some  items to keep the skate park in top shape and protect this great amenity,” said Parks Supervisor Johannes Thorsen in the statement. “We need your help in staying out of the park during this time, so we get the work completed quickly and minimize the closure.”
