At the Zapata Ranch, visitors ride horses near the sand dunes in the Great Sand Dunes National Park and Preserve. Ranchlands, the ranch management company that manages the Zapata Ranch, invites artists to live on the ranch for a week, and the work they create from that experience will be on display at the Depot Art Center for the month of March.

The Zapata Ranch is home to bison, cattle and horses. It is a nature preserve owned by the Nature Conservancy. The all-inclusive retreat offers working vacations with rustic-modern accommodations.

Steamboat Springs swimmers (from left) Annika Fahrner, Lily Starkey, Jenna Smith, Parker Kortas, Lily Starkey and Avery Harrington will travel to Thornton this weekend to compete in the CSI State Age Class Championships. It will be the biggest meet of the season for four of the five swimmers. Kortas will travel to the sectional meet in Iowa City.

Rocky Mountain Division's Annika Belshaw had a good opening day at the 2015 Ski Jumping and Nordic Combined Junior Nationals. The Winter Sports Club product took second in the U16 women's special jumping competition, just behind Central's Cara Larson.

Haas will perform with the Steamboat Springs Symphony Orchestra at 7 p.m. Saturday and 5 p.m. Sunday at the Strings Music Pavilion.

Steamboat Springs skier Cole Puckett roars down the Sitz/See Me run at Steamboat Ski Area on Thursday during a giant slalom race at the U16 Rocky/Central Alpine Skiing Championships. Puckett logged the best finish of a Steamboat skier of the event so far, placing eighth. Vail again got the best of the action, claiming the top six spots. Colby Lange won. Bridger Gile was second and Jacob Dilling third. Trey Seymour was 17th for Steamboat, Sam Frackowiak 24th and Chase Seymour 25th. The girls take on the same GS course Friday.
