Steamboat Springs Fire Rescue is inviting community members to a Push-In Ceremony at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, June 30 at Station 1 in Steamboat Springs, according to a statement released on Monday.
The event celebrates the arrival of a new fire engine and the return of a refurbished Ladder Truck 62, honoring the department’s newest additions to its emergency response fleet.
“This ceremony celebrates the community’s investment in public safety and the firefighters who rely on these vehicles to protect lives and property across our service area,” said Fire Chief Chuck Cerasoli in the statement. “We’re proud to share this tradition and formally welcome this apparatus into service.”
The vehicles reflect the department’s continued investment in firefighter safety, operational preparedness and the ability to serve the Steamboat Springs fire district with modern, reliable equipment and resources.
The ceremony honors a longtime fire service tradition that goes back to the time of the horse-drawn apparatus, when firefighters manually pushed engines into stations because horses could not back equipment into tight bays. Departments today continue the tradition as a symbolic welcome of new and returning apparatus into service.
