Obituary: Mark Chapman

Mark Chapman passed May 2026, in Broomfield. Born in Sioux City 1947. Wildlife Biologist, CSU ’71.
Mark and wife Cathy began their life in a rustic cabin in Steamboat, followed by two family homes built by Mark. He was a carpenter, electrician, mechanic, archer.
Mark was profoundly connected to the Routt Forest. He recently collaborated with DU and the Aspen Archives Project (theaspenarchives.org), documenting sheepherder arborglyphs.
Many people and several dogs called Mark “best friend.”
Survived by wife Cathy; son Joe Chapman of Denver; daughter Arlie Forrester, son-in-law, Hayden, grandchildren, Cosette, Laird, Tadhg of Brisbane, Australia, brother Larry and Connie Chapman of Milford, Iowa, nieces and nephews.
