As the aspen leaves throughout the Yampa Valley begin to change, local community congregation Har Mishpacha is preparing to mark the arrival of the Jewish new year.

The Jewish High Holy Days or High Holidays begin with Rosh Hashana, which runs Sept. 11-13, and go through Yom Kippur, observed Sept. 20-21.

These holidays mark the arrival of the Jewish year 5787, as well as a time for community and individual reflection, renewal and recalibration.

“The High Holy Days are a time to embark on a journey of returning; returning to ourselves, returning to our own concepts of the Divine, returning to the collective responsibility we have to the communities and societies of which we are a part, and returning to what matters most in life,” said Har Mishpacha Rabbi Kolby Morris. “We invite anyone to join us at our services and programs this High Holy Day season as we return to joy and bless the challenging times we are living in.”

Rosh Hashana services are scheduled for Friday, Sept. 11 at 7 p.m.; Saturday, Sept. 12 at 10 a.m.; and Sunday, Sept. 13 at 10 a.m. The services are at the Heart of Steamboat United Methodist Church — except for the Sunday morning service, which is scheduled to take place outdoors at the top of the Steamboat gondola.

Yom Kippur services are scheduled for Sunday, Sept. 20 at 4:30 and 7 p.m.; and Monday, Sept. 21 at 10 a.m., 2 p.m. and 5:30 p.m.
