United States Ski and Snowboard has announced the four athletes who will make up the U.S. Nordic Combined team for the 2026-27 season — and three of them call Steamboat Springs home.

U.S. Ski and Snowboard also has announced this coming season’s U.S. Ski Jumping team, with one Steamboat skier nominated.

For Nordic combined, Alexa Brabec, Annika Malacinski and Niklas Malacinski are the Steamboat athletes on the team, while Jason Colby is Steamboat’s ski jumper.

Brabec is coming off an exceptional season where she was second overall in the world. She could challenge last year’s overall World Cup champion, Ida Marie Hagen, for this season’s title. Brabec last season earned eight podium finishes, including her first World Cup win in Seefeld, Austria on Jan. 30.

Annika Malacinski achieved a solid season as well. She had four top-10 finishes, with her top performance also coming in Seefeld, where she nabbed sixth. She was 12th overall on the World Cup circuit.

Niklas Malacinski represented the United States at the 2026 Winter Olympic Games in Milan Cortina. He was also 23rd overall on the World Cup stage.

“I’m incredibly excited for the upcoming season,” said Ski Jumping and Nordic Combined Sport Director Anders Johnson. “Last season, we saw major progress from our athletes and I’m looking forward to building on that momentum as we head into an exciting World Championship season. I’m extremely proud of our athletes and coaches for the hard work, commitment and dedication they continue to bring every day. We have a great group, and I’m excited to see what we can accomplish together this year.”

There will be 10 World Cup race weekends, starting in Ruka, Finland, Nov. 26-29, and finishing in Oslo, Norway, March 11-13, 2027. The World Championships will be held in Falun, Sweden, Feb. 26 through March 6, 2027.

Colby enters the season following a standout win in Rasnov, Romania in the Summer Grand Prix. He was 35th on the World Cup stage last season, and placed 31st and 20th in his two individual Olympic starts.

“This group reflects the standard our athletes have continued to build over the past few seasons,” said Johnson. “We have returning athletes who have gained real experience on the World Cup circuit and at the Olympic Games, and athletes who continue to push the level of the program forward. We’re looking forward to supporting them as they take on a World Championship season.”

The ski jumping season begins on Nov. 20-22 in Lillehammer, Norway. It will stop stateside in Lake Placid, New York on Feb. 5-7, 2027. The World Championships will be held in Falun in conjunction with Nordic combined.
