City Council honored legendary Steamboat Springs High School soccer coach Rob Bohlmann at Tuesday’s City Council meeting, ahead of his retirement at the end of the school year.
Bohlmann has coached Sailors soccer for 38 years and is one of the winningest coaches in Colorado high school soccer history.
“When I found out I was being honored, I was speechless,” said Bohlmann at the meeting. “I got to be a soccer coach in Ski Town U.S.A. — pinch me.”
In 2025, he led the boys’ varsity soccer team to a second-place finish in the 4A state tournament. Following the season, he was named the 4A Colorado Boys Soccer coach of the year.
With his hallmark slogan “Boom!” and using the pitch as a classroom, Bohlmann has built a legacy and reputation around developing life skills both on and off the field, focusing on leadership, accountability and mental fortitude.
“To have the opportunity (to coach), and have worked with so many great people is unbelievable,” said Bohlmann. “We have one last push with the girls team this 2026 season, and I cannot imagine a better way to go out with the boys in the fall.”
