Apex Waste Solutions in Steamboat Springs, 2701 Downhill Dr., is accepting unwanted house paint, stain and varnish free of charge through its PaintCare program.

According to a news release from Apex, the unwanted paint will be accepted Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at its facility. Paint drop-offs are limited to five gallons per visit.

The site does not accept aerosol coatings (spray paint or other spray products) and also does not accept containers without original labels or containers that are leaking or empty, according to the release.

The drop-off site is one of over 250 such sites located across Colorado.

“We are always excited when new stores join the PaintCare program because it makes it easier for the community to participate,” said Sonya Hansen, manager of PaintCare in Colorado. “All of the participating drop-off sites play a key role in making sure leftover paint is managed responsibly. Steamboat Springs now has three PaintCare drop-off sites in the area.”
