Alterra Mountain Co. parts ways with president of Steamboat Resort

Steamboat Ski & Resort Corp. announced Monday that its parent company, Alterra Mountain Co., “has made the decision to part ways” with the resort’s president and chief operating officer, Dave Hunter.
A news release sent from a resort spokesperson said a search for a new leader would begin “immediately.”
Rob Perlman, who currently serves as the executive vice president for Alterra Mountain Co.’s Rockies Division, will oversee the resort’s daily operations as it searches for a new leader.
Perlman has more than 30 years of ski industry experience and served as Steamboat Ski & Resort Corp’s president for nine years before assuming his new role within Alterra Mountain Co.
Hunter, who also has more than 30 years of ski industry experience, was promoted to Steamboat’s president and chief operating officer position in 2024 following Perlman’s departure. He first joined Steamboat’s leadership team in 2017 and, prior to being named president, was the resort’s vice president of mountain operations.
A spokesperson for Steamboat Ski & Resort Corp. declined to offer additional information on the decision to part ways with Hunter.
