I respectfully ask that the design team reconsider the exterior architecture and incorporate more elements that reflect Steamboat Springs, including Western and ranch-inspired architectural details; natural, muted earth-tone materials and colors; greater use of wood and stone; roof forms appropriate to a mountain community; native landscaping; and façade treatments that reduce a generic, urban appearance, especially on highly visible elevations.

I understand that the project has an established Hyatt brand and practical development requirements. However, I believe there is still an opportunity to work within those parameters while creating a building that feels authentically Steamboat.

This is not simply about personal preference. It is about precedent. If this is one of the first major hotels on the west side, its design will influence future development. I hope we use this opportunity to set a standard that reflects our history, landscape, and Western identity.

I would be proud to say I have stayed at a Hyatt in Steamboat Springs. I would be even prouder if that Hyatt clearly reflected the unique character of our community.
