Letter: Thank you, Routt County, for supporting the Steamboat Marathon
The Steamboat Marathon is incredibly special to me for many reasons. I grew up in Clark, spent my childhood riding my horse on Seedhouse Road, and married my wonderful husband at Glen Eden. Most importantly, the people of North Routt surrounded my family with love during my formative years. For 43 years, the Steamboat Springs Marathon has been an event that brings together runners from near and far to run one of the most scenic courses in the country.
I want to express my deepest gratitude to the citizens of Routt County and Steamboat Springs, the volunteers, Marathon Committee, sponsors and staff of the city of Steamboat Springs and Routt County for their outstanding support in making the 2024 Steamboat Marathon, Half-Marathon and 10k an incredible success.
We know a race of this size causes disruption, and we can’t thank you enough for your patience and warm hospitality. The outpouring of encouragement from the sidelines, the cheers, the handshakes and the heartfelt messages of support created an unforgettable experience for every participant. To the property owners and residents of 129 and those along the 10K route who allow us to set up aid stations and race starts, thank you for sharing your home with us. The beauty of Routt County and this incredible community spirit is what makes the Steamboat Marathon the special race it is, and we are eternally grateful.
To our many volunteers and Marathon Committee, I cannot thank you enough for your contribution. From coordinating the course and race starts to manning aid stations and handing out medals at the finish line, your dedication and service ensured a safe and smooth race for everyone involved. Your enthusiasm, encouragement, and smiling faces were a source of motivation, helping runners push through moments of exhaustion and doubt.
I would also like to thank the city of Steamboat Springs and Routt County for their continued collaboration and support. The cooperation of local authorities, law enforcement and services played a vital role in ensuring the safe execution of the event.
Congratulations to the participants. Whether you were a seasoned runner or a first-timer, it was our pleasure to host you at the Steamboat Marathon, Half Marathon and 10K. We look forward to more years of shared triumphs, community unity and the thriving legacy of the Steamboat Marathon.
