Yampa Valley Medical Center hosting ‘Rethinking Drinking’ event Oct. 13
The Yampa Valley Medical Center Foundation’s Community Health Benefit Fund will host a free “Rethinking Drinking” event on Tuesday, Oct. 13 at 5:30 p.m. at the Strings Music Pavilion, states a Tuesday news release.
Featuring renowned author Annie Grace, the presentation will offer an open, honest dialogue about people’s relationships with alcohol — why they drink, how the brain is affected by alcohol and what individuals can do with that information.
The event comes less than two months after the Steamboat Springs City Council heard results from a Yampa Valley mental health survey, which found alcohol to be “very prevalent” in the social lives of respondents, with a majority of individuals in the valley engaging in alcohol use.
Grace, who grew up in Aspen, is the founder of “This Naked Mind,” a movement that has helped hundreds of thousands of people across the globe change their relationship with alcohol without judgment or shame by using both neuroscience, compassion and explaining the “why” behind one’s drinking.
The event is free and open to the public; children under 6 are not allowed. Tickets are not required.
