The town of Yampa will hold its municipal election on Tuesday, April 7, according to Town Clerk Sheila Symons. The mayoral seat is uncontested, with incumbent Mayor Stacey Geilert running again for a two‑year term.

Five candidates are running for three four‑year trustee seats: incumbents Michael D. Lewis and Hailey Shoptaugh, along with new candidates Brian Ashley, Cynthia Wren and Susan L. Walker.

According to Symons, Trustee Michael Geanious has decided to step down and not pursue reelection, while Trustee Ken Montgomery’s seat will be up for election in two years.

Residents will have two opportunities to meet the candidates before Election Day — an informal meet-and-greet on Tuesday, March 3 and a formal candidate forum moderated by Shannon Lukens on Tuesday, March 10.

Both events will begin at 6:30 p.m. and will take place at the Ladies Aid Hall (83 E. First St.) in Yampa.

Yampa residents who need to register to vote or check their registration can do so through the Colorado Secretary of State’s website at tinyurl.com/nv7d2dvm.
