Steamboat Springs High School senior Claire Shea has been named the Rotary Club of Steamboat Springs Student of the Month for April, recognizing her academic performance, leadership and community involvement, according to a Saturday news release.

Shea has maintained a strong academic record while balancing athletics, extracurricular activities, part-time work and volunteer efforts. School officials say she is known for her work ethic and ability to manage a demanding schedule.

At SSHS, Shea has taken on leadership roles as a class officer, helping organize events such as prom and homecoming. She has also served as a captain on her hockey teams and contributed as a leader in cross country and golf.

School counselor Scott Przymus, who recommended Shea for the honor, described her as a student who leads with both confidence and humility while supporting her peers.

After graduating, Shea plans to study architecture and will begin college with a semester abroad in Rome, Italy.
