Steamboat Resort hires new lodging operations director
Steamboat Ski and Resort Corp. has announced the hiring of Josh Miller as its new lodging operations director.
The longtime Steamboat Springs resident has been in the Steamboat hospitality industry since 1998, recently serving as a regional sales manager for The Group Real Estate.
As lodging operations director, Miller will oversee the resort’s daily operations of lodging and vacation rental management. This director role is newly developed in Steamboat and Miller will focus on new and existing properties outside the resort’s current portfolio. Miller will manage teams related to new lodging operations management including housekeeping, engineering, front office and more.
“We recognize the importance of expanding our guest offering and providing more accommodations options,” said Blair McNamara, vice president of lodging for Steamboat Ski & Resort Corporation, in a news release. “With Full Steam Ahead (Steamboat’s $200-million capital improvements project) attracting new lodging amenities, we want to ensure Steamboat Ski Resort can elevate the guest experience and provide our industry leading management for future opportunities.
“Josh brings extensive hospitality experience to this new role, especially his deep knowledge of association oversight specifically in Steamboat. If there’s a hotel room or condominium in Steamboat, it’s likely Josh has managed it; and that’s the person we need to guide our oversight of the resort’s guest accommodations strategy.”
Prior to his experience with The Group, Miller was the director of operations for Resort Lodging Company where he was responsible for 11 associations, 11 property additions and more than 600 property owners. He also spent nearly 15 years with Steamboat Resorts, a local lodging company, and five years at Wyndham Vacation Rentals as its executive and general manager.
“The nature of my previous work has allowed me to collaborate closely with the Steamboat team for decades,” Miller said in the news release. “It’s only fitting that now I become a part of the team as Full Steam Ahead creates plenty of new and exciting opportunities to expand guest accommodations offerings. I’m thrilled to be on the same team with dedicated staff that I have worked with from afar, and to enhance Steamboat Ski Resort’s already impressive reputation.”
Miller is actively a board member for the Urban Renewal Authority Advisory Committee, Steamboat Springs Little League and Mountain Village Partnership. He is also a chair for the Steamboat Lodging Committee.
Miller will begin his role as lodging operations director Dec. 2, reporting to McNamara.
