Steamboat Orthopedic and Spine institute is expanding its total joint care offering and bringing on Dr. Jeremy Kinder, who specializes in knee and hip replacement surgery. He has over 15 years as a specialist.

“This makes it so individuals don’t have to leave Steamboat Springs when they need specialized care,” said SOSI Orthopaedic Surgeon Dr. Alex Meininger. “There is a demonstrated need and we aim to give the best care for our patients.”

Hip and knee replacements are expected to increase by 600% by 2030, explained Dr. Meininger, and Steamboat is no exception. SOSI had a dedicated hip and knee replacement specialist between 2018 and 2023, but has had to refer patients since then.

“Steamboat has an growing retiree population plus an outdoor lifestyle,” said Dr. Meininger. “The demographic of the area lends itself to a greater need for total joint care.”

Dr. Kinder is expected to begin practicing in Steamboat on May 1.

Dr. Kinder is joining Dr. Meininger’s team after years of friendship and time working together.

The duo first met in the mid-2000s and Dr. Kinder has been a referral for Dr. Meininger for a number of years. He is expected to split time between his practice in Golden and Steamboat.

“We say that our practice saves lifestyles,” said Meininger. “Dr. Kinder expands our abilities to do specialized knee and hip replacements and gives our team a greater breadth of what we can do, which only helps Steamboat.”
