The Routt County Board of Commissioners approved its annual slate of appointments Tuesday morning, reaffirming leadership roles and representative assignments for 2026 across 40 county and regional boards.
Commissioner Tim Redmond will replace Commissioner Sonja Macys as board chair and will serve as the county’s legal signer of documents, while Commissioner Angelica Salinas was selected as chair pro-tem.
The appointments, approved unanimously during the board’s regular meeting (where Macys was absent), set the stage for the county’s collaboration on issues including housing, transportation, climate action and water management in the year ahead.
Redmond’s assignments reflect a focus on infrastructure, water and public safety. He will represent Routt County on the Yampa-White-Green Basin Roundtable, the Yampa Valley Airport Commission and the Northwest Colorado Development Council, and will serve as liaison to the Regional Building Department Oversight Committee and the county’s Wildland Fire Council.
Macys will again represent the county in several environmental and transportation roles, including the Colorado River Water Conservation District, the Yampa Valley Regional Transportation Authority and the Yampa River System Legacy Committee.
She will also serve on the Colorado Communities for Climate Action coalition and the Yampa Valley Sustainability Council, continuing her long-running involvement in local climate initiatives.
Salinas will continue to lead efforts related to housing and economic development. Her 2026 assignments include the Routt County Economic Development Partnership, the South Routt Housing Advisory Board and the Yampa Valley Housing Authority.
She will also represent Routt County on the First Impressions Early Childhood Council and the Climate Action Collaborative Board.
The Steamboat Pilot & Today remains Routt County’s official newspaper of record.
All three commissioners will hold overlapping roles intended to strengthen coordination among regional partners.
