Suzie Romig/Steamboat Pilot & Today
The Medicine Bow-Routt National Forest is recruiting volunteer campground hosts for the 2026 summer and fall season, including several positions near Steamboat Springs and Yampa, according to a Tuesday news release.
Hosts assist visitors, answer questions, manage reservations and help keep campsites and restrooms clean. The volunteer roles include a small stipend and typically run from early summer through late fall, with flexible dates.
In the Steamboat area, three host openings are available at Dry Lake, Freeman and Hahns Peak campgrounds. One position is also open at Bear Lake near Yampa. Additional opportunities are available near Walden, Colorado and Southeast Wyoming.
Forest officials say hosts play a key role in maintaining safe, welcoming recreation sites during the busy summer months.
