ScottDogs owner Scott Sherlock will roll into Steamboat Springs for the summer season when he introduces his hot dog cart at an event Friday at the corner of Elk River Road and Downhill Plaza.

“I want it to be a party,” said Sherlock, who is bringing his idea for a hot dog cart to Steamboat Springs. “I want good music, I want fun and I want all the cool people to come out — because all cool people love hot dogs, man.”

Sherlock plans to open at 11 a.m. and continue serving hot dogs until 2 p.m. on Friday. The menu for his opening day will include a Tropical Sucker Punch with teriyaki glaze and pineapple bites, the Slope Style Dog with cream cheese, jalapeno, and caramelized onions as well as a Do-it-Yourself option where the customer gets the dog and can finish it off with a selection of available condiments — or bring their own.

Moving forward, Sherlock said he will position his cart at several locations in the Steamboat Springs area throughout the summer, offering hot dogs from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. on most days. ScottDogs will also set up in downtown locations, opening at 10 p.m., to serve crowds on weekends.

“It’s a mobile cart, it’s trailered, and I’ve got a bunch of different locations,” Sherlock said. “I want to be at all sporting events, and I’m really excited for softball — that’s going to be super fun and there is no food there.”

ScottDogs has a permit to operate in Steamboat Springs’ parks, so Sherlock plans to keep a presence there. When he’s not serving lunch or taking care of the late-night scene, he said, his cart will also be available to cater events.

“If you have an event, if you want some hot dogs and you want a little bit of party vibe, I’m the guy to go to,” Sherlock said.

Sherlock lived in Bozeman, Montana for several years where he was inspired to go into the hot dog cart business by another entrepreneur who welded a cart to a Harley-Davidson motorcycle and sold hot dogs to the community.

Sherlock doesn’t have a motorcycle and will instead use his SUV to tow his cart to different locations around Steamboat Springs summerlong. He said customers can get updates regarding where the cart is located on a given day at ScottDogs.Steamboat. Those interested in catering can call him at 720-299-3396.

“The weekends in the summer in Steamboat Springs are the best, and they will be elevated by hot dogs,” Sherlock said.
