Steamboat Springs’ First Friday Artwalk on June 5 will feature new exhibitions and local artists across downtown galleries from 5 to 8 p.m, according to recent news releases.
At The Alley Gallery and Art Studios, located behind 729 Lincoln Ave. near Eighth Street Steakhouse, longtime Yampa Valley artist Mary Beth Galer will be showcased as the June guest artist.
Galer, who has lived in the area for more than four decades, creates layered paintings and collages inspired by natural forms, landscapes and wildlife. Her work spans traditional canvases as well as unconventional surfaces, including furniture and murals, and will be on display throughout the month.
Meanwhile, Steamboat Art Museum will display the Oil Painters of America’s 35th National Exhibition during the Artwalk. The juried show, selected from about 1,800 submissions, features 215 works, including pieces by 24 Colorado artists and Steamboat Springs painter Chula Beauregard.
The exhibition highlights contemporary representational oil painting and will include refreshments for visitors.
Both venues are part of the citywide First Friday Artwalk, offering the public an opportunity to explore a range of regional and national artwork.
