The Bud Werner Memorial Library will host a free talk and writing workshop with Ramona Ausubel, bestselling author of “Unstuck: 101 Doorways Leading from the Blank Page to the Last Page” on Monday, Sept. 28 from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. in Library Hall, according to a Tuesday news release.
“Unstuck” includes over 100 exercises, organized into doorways and keys, to help writers overcome writer’s block and revitalize their process. Ausubel’s book “turns problems into possibilities” to guide writers back toward their art versus an external idea or formula.
Ausubel, who has authored five books — including national bestseller “The Last Animal” — has also been published in The New Yorker, The New York Times, The Paris Review, One Story, Tin House and Ploughshares, among other publications.
During the talk, Ausubel will share her own process for “staying in love with her work” and provide a few short writing exercises, with opportunities for attendees to share their responses and ask questions. The casual, hands-on workshop is intended for writers from any genre and at every stage, and participants are encouraged to bring a notebook and pen.
Signed copies of “Unstuck” will be available for sale at the event, courtesy of Off the Beaten Path Bookstore.
