Taylor, Arielle Gold both fourth at Dew Tour
It was a day of “just short” for Steamboat Springs’ elite half-pipe snowboarders at the Dew Tour superpipe event in Breckenridge on Saturday.
Taylor Gold laid down a solid effort on his second run but missed the podium and couldn’t repeat as the event’s champion. He scored in at 84.00, 0.20 points behind Louri Podladtchikov, at 84.20, and in third. Shaun White won the event with a score of 92.60. Ayumu Hirano was second at 89.40.
Matt Ladley also struggled with his first run, then came up with a good one. He scored at 74.00 on his second run to finish seventh.
It was a similar story for Arielle Gold, who was fourth in the women’s superpipe. She had two good runs, but her second was her best, scoring at 82.20. That left her just behind Kelly Clark, third at 84.40. Liu Jiayu won with a score of 91.00. Chloe Kim was second at 89.60.
