Sailors tennis falls; football schedule changed

STEAMBOAT SPRINGS — The Steamboat Springs High School boys tennis team hosted its first match of the 2018 season against Grand Junction on Saturday, Aug. 18. 

Freshman Andy Schuiling would come away with the only victory in No. 1 singles, defeating Cameron Weckly 6-3, 5-7, 6-3.

Senior Ethan Paulus lost 6-1, 6-1 at No. 2 singles and junior Gabe Rabanal would lose 6-0, 6-0.

Roy Lundeen and John Hannaway lost a close match at No. 1 doubles, 7-5, 6-4, while Kyle Nilsson and Brayden MacDougall would battle it out in three sets to fall 4-6, 7-5, 6-4 at No. 3 doubles.

“The players played hard but it was a tough loss but a great starting point.” head coach Bill Conway said. 

Construction prompts Steamboat football schedule change

Due to ongoing construction at Gardner Field, the Steamboat Sailors varsity football game on Sept. 7  has been moved to Moffat County High School. The game will begin at 7 p.m.
