Soroco snaps back with road win

Whatever ailed the Soroco High School boys basketball team Friday night didn’t follow the team on a road trip Saturday.

After losing at home to Rangely, a team the Rams had already beaten, they went on the road to blast South Park, another team they’d already beaten. This time Soroco came out ahead, 53-38.

“I’m very proud of the boys and how they responded,” coach Shawn Hayes said.

Part of the recipe Saturday was getting more players involved. That worked as eight different Rams scored. Warren Hayes led the bunch with 15 points. Chance Beaty had 11.

The team still wasn’t sharp in the fourth quarter, scoring only eight points, and turnovers were again frequent. Still, the performance was enough to send the squad happily into the break.

“We have a lot of positive things going on for us heading into league play,” coach Hayes said.

The team is back in action Jan. 8 at Hayden.
