Sailor tennis has strong weekend in Grand Junction

— The Steamboat Springs High School boys’ tennis team wrapped up play at a two-day tournament in Grand Junction on Saturday and had numerous players finish with top-five results.

No. 2 singles player Charlie Smith took third, as did No. 3 singles player Chase Adams. The No. 1 doubles team of Matt White and Joe Borgerding took fourth, while the No. 4 doubles team of Peter Wharton and Jack Bender took third.

Sixteen teams competed in the tournament, including many 5A schools from the Denver area.



The Sailors next compete Wednesday at Air Academy before hosting Aspen and Vail Mountain Friday in their home openers.
