Sailor boys fall short at Rifle

Austin Colbert

— The Steamboat Springs High School boys basketball team fell on the road to Rifle Friday, losing 48-44.

The Sailors trailed 13-4 after a quarter but rallied to cut their halftime deficit to 22-17. However, the teams played fairly even the entire second half and Rifle held on to give Steamboat (3-4) its second straight loss.

The Sailors will wrap up the 2015 portion of its schedule on Saturday when it hosts Eagle Valley (2-5) inside Kelly Meek gymnasium. The game will start about 3:30 p.m., following the girls game.
