Despite lapses, Rams pull out win

The Soroco High School boys basketball team was listless through much of Saturday’s game, letting a fat first-quarter lead dwindle to just two points late in the game. The Rams stepped up when they had to, however, and pulled out a 59-50 win Saturday against South Park.

“I was very proud of how the boys handled themselves and finished the game off,” coach Shawn Hayes said.

His team went 2-0 on the weekend, winning both games in a small tournament hosted by South Park.

“It was a really good weekend,” Hayes said. “We got a lot of experience with some new kids stepping in. It was an important weekend.”

Schuyler Carlson led the team with 14 points, while Ben Kelley added 12.

Next up for the Rams is a trip to Meeker on Thursday for three days of action in the Meeker Cowboy Shootout.
