Big 2nd quarter keys Soroco win

It was a slow start for the Soroco High School girls basketball team, but the same kind of fast finish the team has demonstrated in recent seasons.

The Rams came on strong to win on the road against South Park, 58-34.

“We started off a little cold shooting, but then, we played like we usually do,” coach David Bruner said.

Briana Peterson scored 21 points to lead the squad. DaKota Bruner had 17.

The team did run into some foul trouble but managed to play its way through it after a low-scoring first quarter.

At the end of that period, Soroco led just 6-3. It scored 23 points in the second, however, to help take control of the game.

“We had to play a little different group than we usually go, but we got going,” coach Bruner said.

The team, 5-1, is now off until a Jan. 8 trip to play at Hayden.
