Gold, Ladley make Dew Tour finals

Taylor Gold is in perfect position to defend his championship in the Dew Tour snowboarding superpipe event.

Gold, who won the title at the Breckenridge showcase a year ago, finished second in Thursday’s qualifying round. He’s one of two Steamboat Springs men to make it to Saturday’s finals.

Gold posted a score of 93.40 on his first run. Only one rider was better, two-time Olympic gold medalist Shaun White, who logged a 95.40.

Ladley was on the cusp after his first run, then launched himself into the finals with his second, which scored at 76.00. He finished 10th. The top 10 riders earned automatic bids, while the next 10 got to compete in one more run for two final spots, setting the finals field at 12.

Gold, Ladley and White will be joined in the finals by Ben Ferguson, Ayumu Hirano, Arthur Longo, Chase Josey, Iouri Podladtchikov, Brett Esser, Gabe Ferguson, Jan Scherrer and Christian Haller.
The finals start at 12:30 p.m. Saturday and can be live streamed at
