Nordic combined team back in Austria pack

Joel Reichenberger

The U.S. Nordic combined Ski Team was oddly consistent Saturday and Sunday in a World Cup event in Ramsau, Austria, but that didn’t make for a great weekend.

Taylor Fletcher had the best performance of the bunch, placing 20th in Sunday’s event, moving up from 45th place with the day’s third-fastest ski time.

A day before, he wasn’t able to make up as much ground, finishing 32nd after jumping to 43rd and recording the sixth-fastest time.

The consistency came from Bryan Fletcher, 26th both days, and Adam Loomis, 40th both days. Bryan Fletcher moved up from 35th Saturday and 36th Sunday, recording top-10 ski times in both performances. Loomis, meanwhile, moved up slightly both days, from 43rd and 41st.

Michael Ward made up the fourth member of the team at the event but didn’t make the competition jumps after placing 56 and 57th in the provisional and qualification jumping rounds.

The event was the team’s last of the 2015 calendar. The World Cup circuit will be back in action Jan. 2 and Jan. 3 from Germany.
