7 Steamboat Nordic combined, ski jumping athletes compete at Junior Worlds this week

Seven Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club Nordic combined and ski jumping athletes will compete at Junior Worlds in Poland this week.

Seventeen Nordic combined and ski jumping athletes will represent the United States and USA Nordic at the International Ski Federation (FIS) Junior World Championships this week in Zakopane, Poland.

Seven Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club athletes will be among them. Women’s ski jumper Annika Belshaw will make her fifth appearance at Junior Worlds. Nordic combined athlete Niklas Malacinski will make his fourth appearance, as will Tess Arnone. Male ski jumper Erik Belshaw will make his third appearance, alongside Nordic combined skier Alexa Brabec. Gunnar Gilbertson will make his second.

The competition begins Wednesday, March 2, with the men’s and women’s Nordic combined normal hill competition. Both men and women will compete in individual ski jumping contests on Thursday, March 3.



On Friday, March 4, will be the mixed team normal hill Nordic combined, while Saturday, March 5, will see athletes compete in the Nordic combined men’s team normal hill, men’s team ski jumping and women’s team ski jumping.

Competition will conclude on Sunday, March 6, with the ski jumping mixed team event.
