Steamboat track athletes get competition in during spring break

STEAMBOAT SPRINGS — A small number of Steamboat Springs High School track and field athletes elected to compete at the Clint Wells Invitational on Friday, April 26, in Craig.

The girls sprint relay team topped the girls finishes with a silver medal. Markada Baker also made strides of her own, taking third overall in the 800-meters and eighth place in the long jump.

Nicole Mueller, Eliza Riordan and Siera Harrison also collected top-10 finishes for the Sailors. Riordan finished sixth overall in the 200-meter dash out of 31 athletes. Harrison finished eighth in the 400-meter dash. Mueller came in ninth in the 100-meter dash in a field of 50 athletes.

Boys

Thomas Lewer topped the boys performances with a second-place finish in the 800. The boys 4×800-meter relay team finished in sixth place.

James Lahrman finished seventh in the 400-meter dash while Chris Morris finished 12th out of 49 runners in the 100-meter dash.

Jimmy Osbourn was the top finisher in the boys field events, taking seventh on the high jump.
