Steamboat boys lacrosse endures first loss on the road

STEAMBOAT SPRINGS — The Steamboat Springs High School boys lacrosse team fell to Thompson Valley on the road this weekend 10-9.

The Sailors were up on the Eagles 4-2 after the first quarter, but the Eagles tied it up 4-4 going into the half.

The teams held a 9-9 tie until the final three minutes of the game when Thompson Valley closed it out 10-9.

“With a long road trip early in the season against a top-ranked team, we feel really happy with the way we played today,” Steamboat head coach Jay Lattimore said. “We built confidence and have plenty to improve on.”

Sailors senior Jacob Gilbertson led the team with four goals. Seniors Kieran Hahn and Tyler Doyne each had two goals and one assist. Senior Macray Dillingham had one goal and two assists. Seniors Jackson Lynch and Ben Hoefer and junior Griffin Maltby each had one assist.

The Sailors will host the Battle Mountain Huskies at 4 p.m. Tuesday, April 2.
