— A new factory store for outdoor gear and clothing company BAP has popped up on Steamboat’s Lincoln Avenue and will be open through the winter season and maybe longer.

Officials for BAP, and related companies Big Agnes and Honey Stinger, said Monday they couldn’t pass up the opportunity to lease the space at 703 Lincoln Ave. through the winter season.

The new store is in the previous location of Vectra Bank, in the Howelsen Place building between Seventh and Eighth streets, and it will allow the companies more space to sell their products.

“We’re excited to open a second BAP location,” said Bill Gamber, who founded BAP in 1985. “The foot traffic and visibility on Lincoln Avenue should be a great showcase for BAP- and Big Agnes-branded apparel items as well as the camping gear and camp furniture from Big Agnes and Helinox.”

The store will sell Honey Stinger food items and a variety of other outdoor gear and apparel from other well-known brands, Gamber said.

BAP is working on creating some new signs for the store, and Gamber said the new location’s fixtures and great lighting will showcase the company’s products well.

The company’s current “Little Red House” on Oak Street will continue to operate as-is and will still serve as offices for Big Agnes and Honey Stinger.

The company was able to secure a temporary lease for the new space on Lincoln Avenue through the winter season and will evaluate how things go with the new store and potentially stay in the location longer.

The new store is open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sundays.
