In visiting our favorite mountain town last evening, we witnessed this large Burgess Creek Road bear enter a vehicle left UNLOCKED in a condo parking lot. The bear stood up, pulled down on the door handle and easily entered into the vehicle. The door slammed shut, trapping the bear inside. We notified the vehicle owner, and called 911. The owner came out to the parking lot and remotely opened the trunk, allowing the trapped bear to escape. The bear had already managed to ravage the inside of the vehicle.
The lesson here: Keep your parked vehicle doors locked at all times due to bear activity!
