The Steamboat Springs High School volleyball team took time before its Thursday night home game to celebrate Pio Utu, who holds free fitness classes for athletes several times per week, every week. Members of the team collected "thank you" notes written to Utu and spoke about the impact he's had on their lives and sports careers.

Steamboat's Junior PGA golf team advanced to the super regional round of a season-ending tournament, but lost last weekend in a competition in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The team included Max Rotermund, Tommy Henninger, Ollie Rotermund, Jack Thompson, Colton Sankey, Caleb Anderson, Travis Seitz, Mike Dinapoli and Zach Walsh from Steamboat, plus two players from Craig, Ryan Peck and Dave Andujo.

United Way volunteer Karen Campbell helps Ralph Gourley and Greg Bjorgum at the taco bar set up inside Yampa Valley Bank Friday for 20K Day for United Way. Those who stopped by were treated to a free taco bar and free gelato from Ciao as the local United Way attempted to raise $20,000 in one day. Yampa Valley Bank matched all donations up to $10,000 hoping to help the local organization reach its goal.

Moffat County High School's Colby Beaver seeks an open receiver to beat the Glenwood Springs pass rush during the junior varsity football team's 12-0 shutout of the Demons. JV will travel to Meeker Monday and will play again at home Oct. 5 to begin Homecoming week, hosting Steamboat Springs.
