— Nice article on snowblowing. So far so good with my own blower. I broke a bolt on the left rotor my first time out, but then I popped another one in, and it started spinning again.

So far, unlike you guys in Steamboat, we have had a light December. We had snow similar to you got this year last year. To be honest, I’m thankful, because moving and repairs have taken a long time. Neighbors say it often snows six feet in two days. I’m in trouble.

I used the snowblower today in earnest. About 18 inches fell in a few hours overnight. Mine is pretty big; a little bigger than yours — about 280 pounds but only 10 horsepower. The neighbors all have diesel 20-plus horsepower, 500-pound beasts. I honestly might have to trade up.

The snow here is really heavy. Everyone here uses Japanese machines, obviously. Mitsubishi, Wado, Yanmar are most common. I paid about $2,000 for mine, and it’s used. I don’t fear and loathe it yet, but I spent two hours out there. I thought it would be much quicker.
