Letter: Support our homegrown candidates this election season
I have a love-hate relationship with political yard signs. On one hand, the name recognition and visibility for candidates is good. On the other hand, many of the signs do not recycle after the election and that’s a bummer. Personally, the best thing about yards signs is that I get to hand them out during my shifts in The Routt County Democrat Office.
People come into the office to get materials to canvass, sign up to volunteer, make donations, discuss the full slate of candidates and pick up yard signs. My absolute favorite topic is the fact that the first four signs by the door are our local candidates and three out of those four are former students of mine at Steamboat Springs Middle School.
I know that my enthusiasm and pride bursts out of me when I talk about Dylan Roberts, Meghan Lukens and Doug Scherar. This talented trio all have strength of character and intelligence to problem solve. This has been consistent since they were kids. I believe they will use their talents to serve our state and local government in the best interest of the population. Ballots are being mailed this week. Vote for Dylan, Meghan and Doug and proudly support our local homegrown candidates.
