Letter: Please support the Protecting Our Kids Act

This is in response to the letter writer who recently argued that 19- to 20-year-olds with military experience and stable personalities could be responsible assault rifle owners. Yes, but these are emphatically not the people who engage in mass shootings of innocent people.

Records since 1996 of mass school shootings show that the average age of the shooters was 18. This is good evidence that the Protecting Our Kids Act, which would raise the minimum age to purchase an AR-15 rifle to 21 would, in fact, help accomplish its goal of making children safer in school.
