Youth hockey registration on Saturday

— Mites, squirts, peewees, bantams and midgets in Oak Creek might be ready to hit the ice this fall.

But before they can do that they will need to stop by the library.

The Oak Creek Youth Hockey Association will hold its annual registration Saturday at the Oak Creek Public Library from 10 a.m. to noon. The league is open to players younger than 8 to 18.

First year mites or squirts can register for a special rate of $50.

The regular registration fee is $100 for mites (8 and under), $140 for squirts (10 and under), $170 for peewees (12 and under), $200 bantams (14 and under) and $240 for midgets (18 and under). Registration fee includes USA Hockey and Colorado Amateur Hockey association fees.

Players must pay 50 percent of the registration on Saturday and the other 50 percent at the time of their team’s first practice. Scholarships are available; the deadline to apply is Sept. 30.

The South Routt Hockey Association will hold fall practices at the ice arena in Craig through the end of November. Winter practices will take place at the Oak Creek Ice Rink.
