— More than 180 Alpine ski racing athletes from Steamboat Springs and around the region tackled Mount Werner on Saturday and Sunday in the Bolle Age Class giant slalom event, and the hometown racers came away with plenty of top finishes.

Steamboat skiers, ranging from U10 to U14, netted 13 total podium spots in eight races spread throughout two days, four boys races and four girls.

Leading the way was a consistent group of local skiers.

Riley Smith won two of the girls events, one Saturday and one Sunday. She was the only local skier to win twice.

Molly Mueller didn’t win one but proved even more consistent. She made the podium in three of her four events, finishing third three times and fourth once.

Sequoia Anstine also won a race and had three other top-10 finishes, placing fourth once and sixth twice.

Raffaela Pitras was in the top 10 three times — seventh, eighth and 10th — and also had an 11th-place finish. Ryli Adrian was ninth twice and 10th once, in addition to a 15th-place finish. Alexandra Blair was sixth, eighth and 10th, and Illy Van Ness and Emily Craig each earned one 10th place finish and another top-20 finish, 13th for Van Ness and 18th for Craig.

Other skiers who tallied top-20 finishes included Emilia Cooper, 11th once and 13th twice; Sydney O’Hare, 12th, 15th, 16th and 18th; Marissa Drobeck, 13th, 17th and 19th; Isabelle Boniface 17th and 20th; Ellie Blair, 14th; and Eliza Fox, 15th.

The boys were just as successful, and there Nicholas Richeda proved fast and dependable.

He stood on the podium after all four races, finishing second three times and third once.

Marat Washburn, too, was a staple at the front of the race, winning once, finishing third once and fourth in another race. Cooper Puckett was on the podium with third-place finishes twice. He also had a sixth-place finish.

Jordan Simon was fourth, eighth, 11th and 14th in his races; Finn Sadler was fifth and sixth; Kyler Armstrong was fifth and seventh; Kyle Kagan was eighth, 10th, 16th and 18th; Bode Flanigan was sixth once and 14th three times; Jack Rotermund was ninth, 11th, 17th and 20th; and Cole Gedeon was ninth and 15th.

Other racers also earned top-20 finishes, including a consistent Leo Davies, 11th, 12th twice and 13th; Colton Sankey, 13th and 18th; Jake Olson, 19th; and Spencer Richeda, 20th.
