STEAMBOAT SPRINGS – “SPEAK: Performances From Women in the Yampa Valley,” an event created by Young Bloods Collective, is now seeking performers.

Performances will be held for three nights on Feb. 28 at The Granary in Hayden, March 1 at the Circle R in Oak Creek and March 2 at the Chief Theater in Steamboat Springs.

“SPEAK” is an hour-long performance written and performed by women living in the Yampa Valley featuring a variety of styles from spoken word to slam poetry to stand-up comedy to dance.

Inspired by the likes of 2 Dope Queens and Eve Ensler, “SPEAK” is a telling of the female experience in all its humor and tragedy in the modern, mountain world.

The writing prompt that inspired this year’s submissions focused on the topic of building bridges: “Share a story with us about a bridge you built in your community, share a story with us about using a bridge another person had built to strengthen community. Share all your stories about building connections, bridges. The world is divided and it’s time to start reconnecting it.”

Volunteer performers who are interested can contact event organizers by emailing info@YoungbloodsCollective.org.
