STEAMBOAT SPRINGS — Routt County Search and Rescue volunteers helped a Texas woman Tuesday morning who fell by Fish Creek Falls.

The call came in at about 10:20 a.m.

The woman, who was in her 40s, fell about 35 feet down the side of a hill along a straightaway after the first bridge.

Search and Rescue volunteer Kristia Check-Hill said the woman was able to stop herself before going into Fish Creek, and she held onto a branch.

“I think she just lost her footing,” Check-Hill said.

Rescuers set up a rope system to get the woman up. She had some cuts and scrapes on her hands and knees.

“She was more shook up than anything,” Check-Hill said.

Rescuers were done with the mission by about 1:10 p.m.
