Woman dies in single-vehicle crash outside Toponas

Steamboat Pilot & Today

— A fatal crash east of Toponas early Sunday morning claimed the life of a Boulder woman.

According to a news release from Colorado State Patrol, Leslie Henderson, 46, was westbound on Colorado Highway 134 near milepost 1 in a red 1996 Acura Integra when, as the road curved left, the Acura went off the road’s right side.

The car rolled an unknown number of times.

Henderson was wearing a seatbelt but died at the scene of injuries sustained in the crash.

The crash was discovered and reported to the Routt County Sheriff’s Office at 6:34 a.m. Sunday.

Colorado State Patrol troopers were assisted by the organization’s Vehicular Crimes Unit, Routt County Sheriff’s Office, Yampa Fire Protection District and the Routt County Coroner’s Office.

Troopers suspect alcohol use and excessive speed were contributing factors to the crash.

The Routt County Coroner’s Office notified Henderson’s next of kin Sunday.
